SPHERIDUR L gauges open up new horizons in terms of precision, safety, ease and duration of hole gauging as well as comparator calibration. They are distinguished from the usual cylindrical buffer gauges by their active parts of spherical shape.
The active part, rigorously spherical and polished, allows very easy introduction into the hole to be gauged, its shape acting as a primer. This feature is a very big advantage, especially when you are side by side. In addition, it is no longer necessary to hold the gauge "straight" and straighten it because it also works in an oblique position.
The SPHERIDUR L gauge is only in contact with the hole via a line of points placed on a circumference of its spherical segment and therefore provides very high sensitivity and perfect repeatability of gauging. A deviation of half a micron can be easily detected using a SPHERIDUR gauge thanks to a sphericity of less than 100 nanometers.
GAUGE OF "LONG HOLE"
A special execution of SPHERIDUR gauges, referenced LM, allows gauging of holes from 1.0 to 60 mm deep for diameters from 0.15 to 75 mm.
Gauging of non-through holes (Core – Blind hole). An asymmetrical execution of SPHERIDUR gauges, referenced AS, allows gauging down to the bottom of non-through holes.
Determination and measurement of hole ovality. After having determined the largest inscribed circle of a hole using normal SPHERIDUR gauges, the use of SPHERIDUR O gauges makes it possible to measure the ovality of a hole with an accuracy of 1 μ for diameters from 0.15 mm.
